Outdoor Activites for Mother's Day  

Outdoor Brunch or Lunch - Since Mother's Day is in May when the weather is warmer with lots of sun, schedule a brunch at a restaurant with an outdoor patio or balcony with a great view. If you are in an ocean town, then schedule a brunch or lunch at a seaside restaurant and be sure to book well in advance to get a table at the edge of the patio or by the window. Usually, book at least 3 weeks in advance for best results in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami. If you are in a valley or mountain region then reserve a table with a view of the valley or mountain ridges. Again, the name of the game here is book early enough and get a table with the best view. In our experience, book at least two weeks in advance for these type of restaurants, such as in Denver, Austin, and Las Vegas.

Day Trip - What better way to treat mom after your Sunday brunch then to immediately head off and explore on a day trip. For day trips there are endless potentials. You can go to a local national park for a hike. You can go visit a local aquarium or amusement park. Museums are popular and the most popular are botanical gardens if you have one you city. Turlips and roses will be in full bloom and the cascade of brilliant colors will surely be the perfect way to celebrate Mother's Day.

Picnic - For a more creative and original idea, pack a basket of sandwiches, fruits, chips and drinks (be sure to bring plenty of utensils, napkins, and cups) and head out for a picnic at a local park or a national park. What better to enjoy Mothers Day than with a beautiful scenery and the smell of fresh grass and flowers in full bloom basking under the golden sun? For an all-out experience bring along barbeque meats such as steaks, hamburgers, and chicken to make it a fulfilling meal. Be sure to check out your local parks and reserve a pit at least three weeks in advance if there are reservations allowed so you are not stuck with no place to barbeque or have a table.
